change login window in ubuntu
change login window in ubuntu
Hi,
Most of us are eager to personalize our computers operating system. In the same way, we might like to keep our photo in login window instead of a default one. Let me help you to do this..
Just follow these steps which helps you to change your login window in your Ubuntu (For Human Beings)!
1. Open your terminal.
Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal
2. Copy your photo to /usr/share/backgrounds.
Eg: sudo cp ur-wallpaper.jpg /usr/share/backgrounds
3. Now, Just copy and paste the following in your terminal.
sudo cp /usr/share/applications/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow && exit
4. Its time to Logout and keep your photo in login window!

5. A "Pop-Up" window will be opened when you got logged out. Goto "Background" tab and choose your photo and click "Close"
6. Congratulation! Now you had set your photo or your own wallpaper in login window.
7. Whenever you reboot or logout your computer, again that same "Pop-Up" window will opened. In order to avoid that, type the following in your terminal.
sudo unlink /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop
Now, everything okay. You can follow the same procedure to change it again, if you are in need!
Hope you enjoyed! Dont hesitate to ask! Have a good day ahead!
